No Book Bans in Sumner County Public Libraries
Over the past year, the Sumner County Library Board has been engulfed in controversy for its attempts to remove “transgender and gender confusing materials” from library shelves– eliminating access to certain books for people of all ages.
And in a troubling new development, conservative influencer Riley Gaines was recently appointed to the Sumner County Library Board. Gaines has risen to prominence by advocating against transgender women’s participation in women’s sports. This new appointment signals that the library board will continue to push for this controversial, discriminatory book ban.
So– we’re fighting back. Together, let’s send a clear message that Sumner County residents reject censorship and book bans in our public libraries.
