We are a group of local parents, teachers, business owners, students and more who are working to build a stronger, more inclusive community. We know local politics can seem intimidating—but our goal is to make it easy for you to jump in, get involved, and make an impact on issues that matter to you.

  3. Attend an upcoming event: Have a drink with us at Pints for Progressives or join us at our monthly book club. View our calendar of events and find one that interests you.

  4. Join a caucus: Our caucuses offer an easy way to get involved in issues that matter to you. For example, the Women’s Caucus works to address issues that primarily affect women, and the Educators Caucus focuses on education-related issues.

  5. Sign our petition: Add your name to our petition opposing book bans in Sumner County Public Libraries.

Get Involved with Local Elections

2026 is an election year, with important local positions on the ballot—including school board, county commission, and more. SCDP needs volunteers to help in a variety of roles, from communications to voter outreach. If you’re interested in volunteering this campaign season, let us know!

Local elections typically get overshadowed by state and national level elections, but they have a direct impact on our everyday lives. Plus, lower voter turnout often results in narrow margins, with some races coming down to just a handful of votes. That means every vote matters, and turning out for a local election can make a real impact on the outcome.
