  • 2026 elections in Sumner County will be held on:

    Federal and state elections this year include voting for governor, senators, state representatives, and more. Importantly, Sumner County will also have the opportunity to elect a new representative for Tennessee's 6th Congressional District.

  • Early voting dates for the 2026 elections are:

    • May 5: April 15 - April 30

    • August 6: July 17 - August 1

    • November 3: October 14 - October 29

  • To vote in the May 5 county primary, you must register to vote by April 6.

    To vote in the August 6 elections, you must register to vote by July 7.

    To vote in the November 3 elections, you must register to vote by October 5.

  • Voting absentee in Sumner County involves:

    1. Filling out an application for an absentee ballot

    2. Sending the application to the Sumner County Election Commission office by mail or e-mail

    3. Receiving and filling out your absentee ballot

    4. Mailing your ballot to the Sumner County Election Commission, in time for them to receive it before polls close on Election Day

  • For the 2026 elections, requests for absentee ballots must be submitted between:

    • May 5 county primary: February 4 - April 25

    • August 6 elections: May 8 - July 27

    • November 3 elections: August 5 - October 24
