“No Kings” + First Amendment Rights

Sumner County Democratic Party Affirms Support for First Amendment Rights Following Peaceful “No Kings” Rally in Gallatin

Sumner County, TN - June 15, 2025 - Yesterday, more than 400 attendees gathered in downtown Gallatin for the “No Kings” rally. Hosted by Indivisible Sumner, the event served as a shining example of the First Amendment in action.

Over the last week, online narratives attempted to sow division and manipulate the intent of the rally. In spite of this, “No Kings” was both peaceful and lawful - a clear reminder that unity and civic engagement remain stronger than fear.

“Yesterday showed us what we can do when a community unites around justice, truth, and caring for each other,” said Megan Lange, Chair of the Sumner County Democratic Party. “Today and all days, we’re reminded that unity - not division - should be our goal.”

The Sumner County Democratic Party is proud to stand with Indivisible Sumner and the many community members who joined the rally to speak out. We’d also like to thank the Gallatin Police Department for a commitment to de-escalation and supporting our First Amendment rights, and we call on our elected leaders to reaffirm their commitment to the rights of every Tennessean to assemble and speak without intimidation.

Let’s continue to build bridges, not walls - and move forward together toward a more just and united future.
